Description

The aspect of the structural systems with constructively distinct anti-seismic devices with different amortization characteristics consists in the fact that it is necessary to assess the compound amortization for the entire functional assembly.
This paper presents the results of the research on the determination of the compound amortization when antiseismic devices have distinct values of the modal amortization rate. Hence, real engineering cases of constructing some viaducts in Romania were analysed where the constructively different elastomeric support devices are characterized by distinct individual rigidity and amortization. The experimental tests on a beam system resting on two different anti-seismic elastic supports highlighted the fact that the compound amortization of the system can be calculated with the relations established in the paper provided that the displacements in the horizontal direction of excitation are in the linear domain.
