Description
Within a transportation organization, an efficient research center can significantly contribute to the realization of overarching objectives. Consistent evaluation of such research centers is paramount in assessing if allocated research funds are being optimally utilized, thereby retaining managerial backing. This research aimed at assessing the efficacy of the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) Research Center. The study involved a comprehensive review of proposals submitted to the WYDOT from 2017 to 2021, thus evaluating the operational efficacy of the Research Center. This examination incorporated an exploration of performance measures, juxtaposing them with preceding phases concluded in 2018 and 2012. These performance metrics are quantifiable and devised to assign a score or value to the Research Center's achievements. These values can subsequently guide managerial decision-making processes concerning the Research Center. Integral to this study were feedback and performance appraisal surveys, orchestrated by the Principal Investigators (PIs) and the WYDOT Project Champions. This study encapsulates the analysis, yielding conclusions and suggestions for further improvements.
